Recorded on a eurorack format modular synthesiser in February-July 2021. Mixed and sequenced in lockdown.
These tracks are all unedited single-take recordings of particular configurations of the modular system. While the system is designed to follow its instincts beyond some initial parameters, some amount of human control and decision-making is involved in all of these performances; one could say that they constitute a dialogue between human and machine at the intersection of art and technology, if one wished (ℹ︎ would not).

From 4mscompany.com/smr.php:
"The Spectral Multiband Resonator from 4ms Company is an innovative resonant filter which can process audio like a classic filter bank, ring like a marimba when plucked/struck, vocode, re-mix tracks, harmonize, output spectral data, quantize audio to scales, and much more...
A gorgeous ring of colored lights displays the frequency of each filter, as well as the levels and current scale selection(s)."

From ornament-and-cri.me/user-manual-v1_3/:
"the Ornament & Crime firmware is a collaborative open-source project by Patrick Dowling (aka pld), Max Stadler (aka mxmxmx) and Tim Churches (aka bennelong.bicyclist). It (considerably) extends the original firmware for the Ornament & Crime (o_C) DIY eurorack module, designed by mxmxmx.
the original o_C module was designed to perform a single function: a digital, quantising version of the classic analogue shift register (ASR)."

Thanks to BW for everything, IB for cheerleading, AP for cryptic inspiration, AA for the flowers, FS and the AW community for providing great advice and gear at low low prices, the community of developers of open-source hardware and software without whose endeavours this project and many others like it would not have been feasible, and the power supply in the case for not destroying anything more important than an old audio interface when it failed catastrophically and terminated this project.
